Whoot! I am SO THRILLED to announce that our April Design is LIVE! I have fallen in love
with this shirt (and mug designs), and a big reason is because of the "I Spy God" moments that led to its creation.
A couple of weeks ago, my mom and I were discussing quotes that could actually be put on a specific ring design from Sparkle! Designs. With both of us being Star Trek fans, I naturally began looking up good Star Trek quotes. That led to the discovery of this really awesome quote from Captain Kirk in the episode titled "The Corbomite Maneuver":
"You know the greatest danger facing us is ourselves, an irrational fear of the unknown. But there's no such thing as the unknown — only things temporarily hidden, temporarily not understood."
This quote felt like such a perfect fit for what we are experiencing right now in the world with COVID-19 (hear more on this in the video below). And alongside the discovery of this quote, I had also been asked by our church staff (along with a few other staff members) to record a devotional video for encouragement. Hand in hand with discovering this Star Trek quote, I was led back to Hebrews 11. This chapter recounts so many amazing events from the Bible where God has worked through His people as they have followed Him faithfully. And while the very first verse is gripping to me...
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. [Hebrews 11:1 NIV]
...what I love even more about this chapter is how, within 40 verses of the chapter, the phrase "by faith" occurs 22 times! Through faith, and because of God's love and covenant with us, we can do so much more than we think we are capable of. That's why the front of the April shirt repeats that very same phrase, "by faith": so that we can have a constant reminder of what can be accomplished through faith, confidence, and assurance through God.
